Primary Purpose:Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. To support the vision and goals of the campus and district Fine Arts program, to produce outstanding performing groups, to develop individual musicianship with all students, to promote an appreciation for the best in all areas of music, and to teach the value of individual and team effort in reaching a common goal. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:Bachelor's Degree from accredited universityValid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subjects/level assignedDemonstrate competency in the core academic subject/level assignedSpecial Knowledge and Skills:Expereince teaching all beginning band instruments: wwodwind, brass and percussionKnowledge of beginning band pedagogyGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instructionKnowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) and Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) rules and proceduresExperience:At least one year of student teaching or approved internshipDuties and Responsibilities:Primary responsibilities include teaching beginning band classes located at Tomball Intermediate and Oakcrest IntermediateDevelop individual musicianship with all students and promote an appreciation for musicPrepare band students in preparation for concerts and eventsAttend and co-direct all outside of the academic day music functions as requiredBe a contributing member to the band vertical teams at Tomball Junior High and Grand Lakes Junior HighSupport the curriculum and vision of the band programs at TJH and GLJHMaintain quality student management and discipline in the organization and in the classroomMaintain and accurate inventory and assignment records of school uniforms and instrumentsPerforms other duties as assignedWorking Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional travel required in-district and out-of-district for school functions and/or activities. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
