We are currently looking for a Regional Director of Hospice Operations (RDO). This position is responsible for assisting with the overall administration of hospice clinical services. This critical role will identify and provide resolution for issues affecting hospice care. The RDO has a unique opportunity to integrate quality management/performance improvement with business goals and objectives. The RDO will hold staff under their direction accountable for growth, high quality patient care, regulatory compliance, positive employee relations and an effective business plan.   • Leadership Development: Recruit, mentor and grow high-performing clinical leaders who take full ownership of their roles and outcomes. Foster an environment of collaboration, compassion and ongoing professional development.
  • Culture Building: Champion a value-based leadership model that promotes connection, accountability and team engagement.
  • Customer Experience: Partners with the Quality and Education Departments to design and scale best practices for orientation, performance improvement and in-service development.
  • Clinical Innovation: Continues to partner with internal and external stakeholders to advance innovative practice that fosters efficiency, high quality interactions, staff support and sets HOC apart in its care models. Leverage EMR systems and other tools to support total integration and support of best practices.
  • Growth: Applies HOC’s strategic growth initiatives to the markets for which the RDO has oversight partnering with clinical leaders to ensure application of mutually agreed upon goals. Acts as a liaison with community partners, facility leaders and vendors to ensure high-quality care in all settings.
  • HOC Leadership: Active participant of the senior leadership team of HOC helping to advance and lead the strategic initiatives of the organization advancing the values of Courage, Excellence, Service and Empowerment.
Other Duties:
  • Ensures staff and department compliance with organization, local, state and federal laws, regulations, standards, and requirements of regulatory and accreditation agencies (e.g. JCAHO/DOH/CMS), including those governing professional practice, and contractual arrangements (e.g. grants).
  • Serves on internal/external committees to promote the mission, vision and effective operation of the organization.
  • Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by hospice operations clinical organization personnel.
  • Provides guidance and counseling to staff, coordinators, and clinical supervisors/managers to assist them in continually improving all aspects of hospice care services, provided through organization personnel.
  • Assists clinical supervisors/managers in managing clinical teams and planning.
  • Provides help in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and family/caregiver care to all clinical personnel as indicated.
  • Collaborates with COO and Finance Department to provide input to develop annual budget for the Hospice operations cooperation with the CFO and Controller. Assist with oversight of all aspects of budget administration and is responsible for monitoring the budget on a monthly basis.
  • Assists clinical leaders to develop skills and techniques in evaluating the performance of clinicians.
  • Hires, evaluates, and terminates organization personnel.
  • Assists in the development of organization goals. Develops, recommends, and administers Organization policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the COO.

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Maryland RN license active and in good standing.
  • 3-5 years of management/leadership experience in a hospice or related health care organization, at least two (2) years of which was in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.
  • Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or Organization requirements and is in good working order.
  • Has excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations, CMS Conditions of Participation (COPS) and accrediting body’s standards.
REQUIREMENTSMust maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
