What's the role?The Water Treatment Supervisor reports to the Operations Superintendent, and the primary role is to oversee operations of two potable water treatment facilities, industrial wastewater facilities, an STP and numerous sewer lift stations throughout Pogo Mine.Duties include:
  • Provide leadership and manage the unit, make decisions, solve problems, develop procedures
  • Protect the health and safety of employees by enforcing safe work practices and health programs in accordance with company policy and regulations
  • Observe, inspect and monitor equipment, personnel, and indicators to ensure the operation and operators conform to company standards (safety, production, compliance, etc.)
  • Work closely with departments (metallurgical, safety, maintenance, environmental, mine, etc.) to ensure safety, production and compliance
  • Work to build a dynamic, functional team with company beliefs and values as the core foundation
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, training, etc. to meet production goals
  • Work with operators in all facets of process training, safety, and general work practices
  • Promote positive employee relations through effective conflict management and issue resolution
  • Track, prepare and conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and enforce company practices and regulations
  • Investigate, analyze, and supervise the documentation of accidents, injuries, and equipment damage
  • Generate work orders for repair or modification of operations equipment. In emergencies, off shifts, or as directed, perform or supervise completion of minor repairs
Desired Experience & Competencies
  • Leadership experience managing projects or teams.
  • Experience conducting performance evaluations, recommending promotions, and carrying out corrective actions.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring direct reports.
  • Experience with operator training programs.
  • Prefer experience with Ozone, Sand Filters, Ultraviolet Disinfection, Chlorine Disinfection, Corrosion Control, Micro-filtration, Clarifiers, Filter Presses, Pumps and Pumping Systems.
  • Experience with Delta V DCS systems (SCADA).
  • Preferred experience operating extended aeration, sequential batch reactor sewage treatment plant, or MBR.
Qualifications Required
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Hold or be willing to work toward an AK Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Water treatment 1 Certification.
  • Hold or be willing to work toward an AK Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Wastewater Treatment 2 Certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a supervisor with strong leadership skills. Preference for Water, Wastewater and Industrial Wastewater Treatment Experience.
  • Current Driver's License
The Details:Working a 15 day on, 13 day off rotating schedule of days and nights, up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi.
