- Applying expertise in pipeline hydraulics, pump and compressor operations, use of pipeline DRA (drag reducing additives), and regulatory restrictions to develop hydraulic models
- Developing and tuning static and transient hydraulic models for pipeline systems using standard simulation software packages to evaluate operating parameters, system design, system capacity, operational costs, and surge analysis
- Developing model scenarios to address business questions, support growth initiatives, and provide results useful for economic analysis
- Leading a team or participating as a team member to evaluate, develop, and implement pipeline optimization and operational strategies for the organization. Evaluate projects for system optimization and develop project justification for equipment changes and replacement.
- Developing and implementing tools for Field Operations, Scheduling, and Control Center operations to minimize operating costs and improve overall asset optimization
- Propose, sponsor, lead and provide expert input for system optimization, such as operational improvements, engine replacements, VFD installations, DRA installations and compressor and pump modifications
- Providing guidance to Midstream team members and 3rd party engineering firms regarding model configuration and operating scenarios, including mentoring and training in hydraulic modeling and simulation
- Provide status update communication and follow-up with customers regarding modeling and optimization requests to agree on realistic timelines, prioritization, resource allocation, and team deliverables.
- Management of the overall pipeline Drag Reducing Agents (DRA) program, including equipment installation, equipment maintenance, equipment replacement, vendor communications, product usage forecasts, etc.
- Train and mentor team members in hydraulic understanding, modeling, gas gathering pipeline operations, batched liquid pipeline operations, and energy analyses skills
- Leverage relationships with industry peers and vendors through leading or participating in industry interest groups to remain up to date on regulation, technology, and software/tool options in the energy management and hydraulic modeling subject matter areas
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum or related field)
- 7 or more years of experience in the petroleum industry
- 3 or more years of experience with pipeline hydraulic modeling, simulation/optimization
- Advanced or greater proficiency in the use of hydraulic modeling software packages such as Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS by DNV), AFT Fathom etc.
- Advanced or greater proficiency in programming principles required for software application
- Advanced or greater proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Basic knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps/motors/engines) and efficiency optimization
- Basic knowledge of NGLs, refined products and crude characteristics
- Ability to 10% travel including overnight
- 3 or more years of experience in field operations or corporate engineering
- Advanced knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps/motors/engines) and efficiency optimization
- Advanced or greater proficiency in NGLs, refined products and crude characteristics
- Advanced or greater proficiency in NextGen, Synergi Gas, Promax etc.
