Retention Bonus after 6 months of continuous employmentThis is an administrative assistant level position. The Unaccompanied Alien Children Program referred by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), provides temporary residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government. In the basic shelter program, we provide therapeutic and educational services and other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as well as link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States, so they are able to move forward with their lives and thrive.In a manner consistent with CHK's Mission Statement and applicable laws and regulations, an employee in this position shall:
  • Work with the New Horizon's Assistant Program Director and Lead Case Manager to maintain compliance of all unaccompanied youth files and support the case management team while maintaining confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations.
  • Ensure that youth are properly enrolled into the program's internal intake system (ETO/UAC Portal).
  • Create client intake case files with necessary intake documents and assist with filing, closing, and with overall daily maintenance of physical and electronic records.
  • Complete and secure inventory of personal belongings/valuables of youth.
  • Ensure the provision of weekly telephonic contacts with family of origin, primary caregiver, attorney, and/or sponsor, as well as incoming calls from said contacts.
  • Assist with booking necessary travel arrangements and drive youth to appointments or airports as needed using a company vehicle.
  • Assist case management with creating discharge packets with discharge documentation and provide exit orientation to clients as part of the discharge process from the program.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English & Spanish fluently, which allows full communication with agency staff and third parties.
  • Ability to perform highly exacting work, complex in nature, and to exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to evaluate facts, interpret results, and make recommendations.
  • Possess a valid driver license with a driving record acceptable to CHK's insurance carrier.
  • Schedule flexibility to work extra hours as needed to support program demands.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two years of previous experience working with children and/or adolescents in a child welfare setting preferred, but not required.
