- Performs routine fieldwork as a trainee (such as environmental sampling, assisting with calculations, and operations, maintenance and inspection of equipment of client site), working under close supervision. Performs routine tasks in support of project staff and handles less complex duties.
- Performs a variety of tasks in support of project staff.
- May gather and maintain specified records of scientific data for supervisor, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
- Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.
- Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories under supervision.
- Frequently moving to numerous locations on the site to perform monitoring and maintenance checks.
- Occasional power gripping/ squeezing hand tolls and levers to perform maintenance, inspection or reading such as removing nuts and bolts on filters or well covers.
- Occasionally working with arms above shoulder level, climbing stairs, and using portable ladders to perform maintenance, inspection, or readings.
- Position requires wearing associated person protective equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes/boots, hart had, face shield, respirator, and hearing protection.
- Often working in an environment with heavy, moving dangerous equipment.
- Occasional repetitive bending and stooping to take ground measurements and other record reading as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Requires enrollment in the medical monitoring program requiring initial and annual physicals.
- Occasionally lifting of 40lbs unassisted
- Must participate in and successfully complete a post-offer pre-employment fitness for duty questionnaire
- Candidate must be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination.
- Physically able, with or without accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, noise, and/or chemicals.
- Ability to travel to various client site locations to conduct fieldwork, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections.
- Selected candidate will have completed 40 hour HAZWOPER training or annual refresher class.
- Proficient and knowledgeable with all types of groundwater sampling and gauging techniques (low flow purge, no purge, conventional).
- Proficient and knowledgeable with all types of groundwater and LNAPL treatment systems (pump and treat, soil vapor extraction, LNAPL skimming, dual phase extraction, etc.)
- Excellent work ethic and team-player attitude.
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Experience with Oil and Gas clients and working on active petroleum facilities.
- Experience with pneumatic and electric submersible pumps, electric control panels, and water conveyance piping.
- Experience with environmental sampling (soil, soil vapor, groundwater).
- Excellent mechanical background and aptitude.
- Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to follow specific instructions.
- An ability to effectively express themselves orally and in writing to other project staff.
- Basic computer skills.
