- Manage the defense of customer, consumer, and public lawsuits from within the company.
- Oversee a wide range of liability matters including premises, fleet, pharmacy, and product claims.
- Develop and refine internal litigation processes and policies for attorney-represented and litigated claims.
- Provide strategic legal counsel to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Oversee legal cost management and collaborate with outside counsel as needed.
- Monitor legal trends and regulatory changes impacting our operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and contracts.
- Mentor legal team members and contribute to a culture of excellence.

- Juris Doctor and active BAR admission in any U.S. state.
- 5+ years of litigation experience in tort and personal injury defense, including trial experience (lead or second chair), OR
- JD plus a degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience managing tort claims in a corporate legal or insurance setting.
- In-house experience-preferably in a retail, healthcare, or consumer-facing company.
- Familiarity with risk management, claims adjusting, and insurance financials.
- Experience with legal fee control, outside counsel management, and alternative fee arrangements.
- Background in insurance coverage, indemnification, product liability, and pharmacy or medical litigation.
- Florida Bar admission and bar admission in other Publix-operating states.
- ARM or Certified Claims Representative designation.
