Meta is seeking a data center Lead Electrical Subject Matter Expert for our Data Center Facility Operations team. Our data centers serve as the foundation upon which our systems operate to meet the demands of our customers. The Lead Electrical Subject Matter Expert will be a part of the Facility Operations team and will lead and manage a team of electrical SMEs who are the data center electrical system technical operations experts. The Lead Electrical Subject Matter Expert will need to have a broad understanding of electrical system and equipment function and will be responsible for procedure-based electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, training, and project oversight. The candidate will need to be experienced in Low Voltage & Medium Voltage power distribution, electrical protection & controls systems, UPS and battery systems, electrical testing, applicable electrical codes and standards, and have a basic understanding of mechanical systems. In addition to technical skills, this candidate will be equipped with leadership and management skills that will be essential for team alignment to global strategies.Lead Electrical Subject Matter Expert ResponsibilitiesHire, develop, mentor, and manage an onsite team of electrical subject matter experts, overseeing performance and HR aspectsEnsure effective collaboration between local electrical teams and applicable local and global teamsServe as an onsite technical/consultative resource for electrical infrastructure systems and equipment, with a focus on practical applicationContribute to the development and implementation of the site's electrical safety programPlan, resource, author, or approve work packages for electrical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities, assessing and mitigating personnel and system riskConduct or oversee hands-on troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance of electrical equipmentManage electrical system configurations and component upgrades to ensure system integrity and compliance with best practicesProvide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) oversight of construction projects and maintenance activitiesLead and/or participate in root-cause analysis activities related to electrical infrastructure systems and equipmentProvide training to Critical Facility Engineers and other cross-functional teams on electrical equipment, systems, procedures, and changesReview operating equipment data for electrical system health, monitoring for abnormal trends to mitigate and prevent equipment failuresManage vendor relationships for electrical maintenance and retrofit workProvide feedback on global electrical maintenance strategies and global electrical system design improvementsSignificant travel may be required during the first 1-3 months for initial training/onboarding, with ongoing occasional travel for factory witness tests, collaboration, and other business needsMinimum Qualifications8+ years relevant electrical industry experience or electrical trade level experienceBachelor's degree in related field plus 3+ years relevant electrical industry experience will be considered in lieu of 7+ year electrical industry experience3+ years in team managementIn depth understanding of critical facility operations and procedure-based work environmentsComprehensive knowledge of power equipment and systems, including design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and constructionProficiency in interpreting electrical plans, specifications, and shop drawingsFamiliarity with mechanical, controls, and life safety monitoring systems used in critical environmentsExperience with blueprint/CAD drawing interpretationWork collaboratively in cross-functional teamsProficient in computer systems, including document management, spreadsheets, and emailPreferred Qualifications7+ years experience in a data center or other critical environmentNETA or NICET electrical testing experience/certificationsEquipment field service engineering experienceExperience in instrumentation & control, power system protection, power automation, etcExperience in high Voltage (up to 345kV) equipment construction, operation, and maintenanceTrade Certification or state license as an electricianFor those who live in or expect to work from California if hired for this position, please click for additional information.About MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
