- Drive excellence in core risk controls and minimize losses from defaulters, while reducing unprofitable customer disruptions
- Leverage internal and external warning indicators to effectively manage exposure
- Monitor key credit metrics such as transaction declines, account cancellation, write-offs and recoveries, and provide analytical insights to explain trends
- Develop efficient and differentiated customer outreach strategy, embracing ‘digital first’ mindset
- Build the next generation of customer management capabilities
- Close collaboration with functional and servicing partners to profitably manage and maximize customer relationships
- Ensure operational excellence and compliance with regulatory, audit and oversight requirements
- Understand the competitive and macro-economic landscape and proactively identify opportunities in American Express portfolios
- 3+ years of data-driven risk management or analytical experience within the financial services industry
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, or Computer Science
- Blend of analytical skills, process expertise, project management, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to handle large datasets using SAS, SQL, R, Python or another similar programming language
- Thought leadership and solution-oriented mindset
- Ability to think strategically and apply both quantitative methods and business insights to drive results
- Ability to build strong relationships in a cross-functional environment
- Clear, effective written and oral communication skills
- Advanced degree (e.g., MS, PhD, or MBA) is preferred but not required given a suitable combination of formal education and work experience
