- Identify/Scope/Manage automation programs/projects across the company’s entire manufacturing system.
- Capital projects/programs to range from $0.1 to $5 million.
- Provides expert consultation in multiple areas for the design, development and implementation of automated equipment and systems.
- Develops breakthrough solutions to improve the efficiency of end of line operations through the application of automation.
- Areas of automation include, but are not limited to, product counting/bagging, case packing, palletizing, product conveying, industrial and collaborative robotic systems.
- Develops process/equipment specifications and operational metrics (KPI’s).
- Perform vetting analysis for all projects, includes financial, operational and technical analysis.
- Create and manage Capital Authorization Requests (CAR’s).
- Develops process methods and controls to meet quality standards.
- Develops, writes, implements, submits and/or presents various technical reports or CARs in support of cost reduction and operational efficiency improvements.
- Prepare standard work and training protocol for the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and systems installed.
- Responsible for coordinating and performing 2P’s and FMEA for all concepts and final designs.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams as well as contractors/consultants and vendors.
- Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical equipment and process issues and provides technical leadership and training to resolve same.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required with 5-10+ years of applicable experience.
- Demonstrated application of complex concepts, practices and procedures within particular engineering field.
- Has fundamental understanding of first principles required in the design and manufacture automation systems.
- PLC and Controls System programming required. Robot programming a plus.
- Proven root problem solving skills on processes. (Pareto generation/analysis, Fishbone Diagram, Five Whys, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA))
- Knowledge and experience with Lean Concepts such as Production Preparedness (2P), Kaizens, Mistake Proofing, Visual Management, etc., a plus.
- Six Sigma experience a plus.
- Statistical analysis skills.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and motivational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and establish priorities.
- Manufacturing process (plastic/paper)/project engineering experience.
- Solid communications skills, both written and verbal, required.
- Recognized as a technical leader and key resource.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project, Visio, as well as AutoCAD & SAP.
- Up to 65% Travel.
