Location Address: 8303 Dodge Street, Omaha, NE 68114Work Schedule: 7am to 3:30pm, Mon-Fri.Navigates cancer patients through participation in clinical research trials, ensuring safe and appropriate protocols are followed from initial consent through follow-up.Responsibilities:Essential FunctionsScreens and identifies eligible patients for participation in research protocols by gathering and clarifying medical history information.
- Develops strategies to identify and recruit eligible patients.
- Participates in cancer treatment planning conferences with physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Creates study implementation plans which include the collection and reporting of data within visit windows and/or other study parameters.
- Nursing assessments and management of symptoms are performed based on study requirements while keeping the needs of each subject in mind.
- Subjects are instructed on proper use of investigational agents.
- Ensures patient comprehension during initial and ongoing informed consent discussions.
- Ensures data quality and patient confidentiality using basic information technology and computer skills.
- Is prepared for monitor visits and/or audits; with appropriate and timely follow up
- Performs duties in accordance with standards of nursing practice and the code of ethics.
- Able to anticipate and mitigate the potential for protocol non-compliance.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required within 5 years of hire.
- Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory education requirements.
- Minimum of 2 years Nursing experience required.
- Strong background in patient education and teaching preferred.
- Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with patients, family members, physicians, and co-workers.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
- Ability to open and navigate computer software applications relevant to job functions.
- Ability to process and manage confidential information with discretion and according to HIPAA protocols.
- Knowledge of cancer treatment navigation protocols and processes, including research trials, education, and cancer support programs.
