You’ll work across the full stack, from APIs and data pipelines to developer tools and testing frameworks, with a focus on performance, reliability, and ease of integration. The role offers broad technical exposure, significant ownership of design and implementation, and the opportunity to influence both product direction and technical decisions. You’ll see your work have immediate impact in customer deployments while collaborating closely with a small, fast-moving, and high performing engineering team.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain APIs and SDKs that enable seamless integration of our LiDAR sensors into customer applicationsImplement efficient data processing pipelines and optimize networking protocols, data serialization, and performance for real-time, low-latency sensor data streamingBuild comprehensive testing frameworks and automated quality assurance systems for hardware-software integrationCreate and maintain technical documentation, integration guides, and developer resources to support customer adoptionDevelop internal tools for calibration, diagnostics, and manufacturing supportDeploy and maintain production systems using modern DevOps practices including CI/CD and containerizationCollaborate across the engineering team to solve diverse technical challenges as startup priorities evolveQualifications3+ years of software engineering experience with strong problem-solving skills across multiple domainsProficiency in systems programming languages (Rust or C++) for performance-critical applicationsExperience building user-facing applications and tools, preferably with modern frameworksSolid understanding of API design, documentation, and SDK development with experience shipping production APIs or SDKs used by external developersStrong background in software testing, debugging, and performance optimizationExperience with data processing, serialization formats, and networking fundamentalsProficiency with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative development practicesFamiliar with networking infrastructure including UDP, Ethernet, and NTP/PTP protocolsExcellent communication skills and ability to work directly with customers and partnersComfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with changing prioritiesPreferred QualificationsExperience with robotics, sensor systems, or hardware-software integrationKnowledge of point cloud processing libraries (PCL) or computer vision frameworksExperience with ROS/ROS2 ecosystem and robotics developmentBackground in data visualization or building technical user interfacesExperience with embedded or real-time systems, particularly on edge computing platforms like JetsonUnderstanding of serialization protocols (Protocol Buffers, FlatBuffers, Cap'n Proto)Proficiency with performance profiling, debugging tools, and system optimization (e.g., Valgrind, perf, or language-specific profilers)Benefits packageCompetitive salary and meaningful equity packageComprehensive health benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision)Unlimited PTO and paid company holidaysTeam events and company meetupsHybrid or remote work environment with monthly travel for remote employees.Complimentary lunch provided daily at our NYC officeEqual Opportunity EmployerVoyant Photonics is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
