MPEC, held at Marquette, is a network of universities, colleges, correctional institutions and community organizations across Southeastern Wisconsin, working together to build educational programming and pathways to degrees inside correctional facilities and on our college campuses for currently and formerly incarcerated students. EPP is Marquette's prison education program, providing a bridge to help currently and formerly incarcerated students jump-start their interest in college, whether they have already taken college courses, have never taken a college course, or never thought they would take a college course. EPP currently offers up to 8 tuition-free courses for students directly impacted by the criminal legal system to support their educational journey.The Site Coordinator assists the MPEC and EPP leadership teams and the Racine Correctional Institution (RCI) Education Director with day-to-day operations of the courses running at RCI along with providing technical support to RCI students and faculty regarding the online learning platform, Blackboard.
Duties and Responsibilities1. Provide onsite logistical educational support, eg. distributing course materials, organize tutoring and lab hours, at RCI a minimum of 2 days per week2. Provide open office hours at Center for Urban Research, Teaching and Outreach (CURTO) and Blackboard technical support for faculty teaching at RCI3. Serve as liaison between the EPP, MPEC, and RCI Education staff4. Participate in Blackboard online learning platform training and serve as first point of contact for faculty and students utilizing Blackboard
Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesBachelor's degreeOne year of related experienceSelf-starterResponsible and adaptableStrong organizational skills and attention to detailStrong writing and oral communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaborativelyPassion for social justice, particularly criminal and carceral justiceAbility to work on site at RCI, CURTO and remotelyProficient in virtual meeting platforms including MS Teams and ZoomProficient with using and learning technology such as BlackboardEligible to work 20 hours per week in Fall and Spring semesters (year-long commitment required)Transportation to and from RCI a minimum of two days per week
