- Serve as lead on client assistance Accounts Payables for Supportive Services for Veterans and Families (SSVF), as well as providing prompt responses to inquiries regarding client assistance
- Serve as back-up on client assistance Accounts Payables for HEN
- Print and mail checks, and ensure payments are uploaded to Positive Pay prior to disbursement
- Request check voids and stop payments as needed
- Cancel invoices or reissue payments as needed
- Investigate returned checks and rejected invoices
- Communicate with Case Managers and Program Staff on the status of invoices and organizing pick-up times for urgent checks
- Collaborate with Grant Accounting team members to process, code, and allocate complex utility bills
- Approximately one third of the duties of this position will be as follows:
- Assist their supervisor, the Accounts Payables Manager, with any special report generation, invoicing, and any requests for custom financial information.
- The Regional Finance Director will also assign analytical tasks and report preparation and generation tasks to this position.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
- One year of increasing professional responsibility in accounting / financial management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Very strong computer skills, especially in Excel and accounting software packages.
- A Bachelor's degree with the successful completion of accounting courses: Introduction to Accounting (I and II), Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting (I and II), and Cost Accounting.
- AA Degree with 4 years’ experience in a nonprofit, government funded, social services environment performing professional level duties equivalent to a staff accountant.
- Experience working in a non-profit, government funded, or social services environment
- Experience with Sage 100, Infor, or other ERP accounting software
- Experience with ADP payroll software and electronic times and attendance
