Inspired people, amazing designs, and projects with purpose.Job DescriptionOlsson is seeking an experienced Senior Transit Planner to join our team and lead the development of innovative transit solutions that positively impact communities. The ideal candidate possesses a comprehensive understanding and practical experience in federal transit funding programs and associated compliance tasks, including adeptness with triennial review processes and Title VI regulations. They demonstrate proficiency in navigating transit agency operations, encompassing both fixed-route and demand-response services. Moreover, they exhibit a proven ability to apply transit service planning and scheduling principles effectively at various levels, including routes, corridors, and system-wide implementation. They have a demonstrated history of utilizing diverse transit data sources, including the National Transit Database and ridership statistics, to inform decision-making processes. Additionally, they excel in conducting transit-specific public engagement initiatives, such as on-board surveys and engaging with riders at bus stops. Furthermore, they possess the skills to understand and collaborate with transportation planning professionals on addressing infrastructure and land use considerations impacting transit, such as pedestrian access, ADA standards, and transit-oriented development principles.In this role, you will serve as a key technical expert, providing guidance and leadership in all aspects of urban and rural transit planning. As a Senior Transit Planner, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of transit systems, driving efficiency, and promoting sustainable transportation solutions.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee project development to ensure adherence to quality standards and objectives.
  • Provide strategic guidance to address complexities in transit projects and optimize design approaches.
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline workflows and enhance project delivery.
  • Conduct extensive research to inform transit planning strategies and decision-making processes.
  • Supervise and evaluate technical assignments of junior staff, fostering professional development.
  • Conduct thorough research, analyze demographic data, and attend public meetings for transit planning insights.
  • Utilize GIS mapping and spatial analysis to develop tailored solutions for project needs.
  • Deliver concise reports and memos with valuable recommendations for transit initiatives.
  • Excel in communication, engaging with clients and presenting to diverse groups.
  • You will work in various terrain and weather conditions at project sites.
Periodic travel for project-related tasks and business development efforts is required.*We have one current opening and will consider candidates interested in being located out of our Plano or Fort Worth office location.QualificationsYou are passionate about:

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in urban planning, architecture, public policy, geography, or related field.
  • Must be a Certified Planner (AICP).
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in transit planning.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience supervising technical personnel or serving as a project manager.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proven technical writing ability.
  • Proficiency in several computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets and database software.
  • Experience in ArcGIS or ArcPro software.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving history.
