- Supervises and evaluates nursing care delivery in the Emergency Department, ensuring adherence to the nursing process, medical care plans, and departmental policies.
- Supports onboarding, leadership development, and training programs for department staff, assisting managers and directors with in-service education on relevant topics.
- Monitors patient flow, turn-around-times, and staff performance to identify and implement process improvements that reduce delays and enhance care delivery.
- Performs regular rounding on patients and staff in the Emergency Department to address concerns, provide support, and ensure high standards of care.
- Identifies and addresses staffing needs for oncoming shifts, taking proactive steps to secure adequate coverage and maintain continuity of care.
- Acts as a clinical resource for staff, providing guidance and support for complex patient care situations.
- Reports problems or issues encountered during the shift to the appropriate Manager, Director, or Administrator on Call in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assists department leadership with program development, event planning, and other initiatives to support team engagement and departmental goals.
- Prioritizes data collection and documentation activities based on patient condition and departmental priorities, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Associate Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- 2-4 years of clinical nursing experience in emergency care required
- 0-1 years of previous leadership or supervisory experience required
- Strong clinical knowledge of emergency nursing practices and workflows.
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills to engage, mentor, and guide nursing staff.
- Ability to analyze and improve patient flow and operational processes.
- Proficiency in managing staffing and resource allocation to meet departmental needs.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards applicable to emergency services.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred
- CEN - Certified Emergency Room Nurse preferred
- TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course preferred
- ENPC - Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification preferred
