
Head of Production - Haynesville

500 wells across Texas and Louisiana, producing greater than one billion standard cubic feet per day from best-in-basin high pressure and high temperature wells, proactively interacting with other disciplines, teams, subfunctions and contractors to systematically resolve problems and applying sound engineering judgement to drive integrated, pragmatic solutions focused on risk management, operating efficiency, defect elimination and standardization through technology implementation. This position represents a unique opportunity to manage a top-tier natural gas asset with a significant resource base to create meaningful cash flow.Key Accountabilities
- Lead safety culture: Provide visible safety leadership for all employees and contractors, champion best practices, and ensure robust compliance with process and personal safety standards and environmental regulations
- Deliver production plan and guide organization through economic downhole interventions and surface modifications to increase production and/or reduce cost
- Enforce cost discipline: Drive initiatives that improve cash cost per barrel of oil equivalent (boe), optimize spending, and support strong financial outcomes.
- Maintain operational integrity: Ensure all activities consistently operate within well and process safety design limits, monitor key performance indicators, and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Embed RCFA and learning: Foster a culture of Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), oversee thorough investigations of incidents and near-misses, and encourage sharing of lessons learned across the organization.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work effectively with teams in Development, Completions, Interventions, and Finance to align priorities, resolve challenges, and drive innovation.
- Focus on asset integrity: Champion measures that sustain long-term value creation, asset reliability, and sustainability.
- Support teamwork across field-based and office-based personnel
- Drive technology improvement and adoption in work management execution, production analysis, and cost performance
- Build alignment with bp and third party midstream organizations to provide flow assurance for in-year and future delivery
- Regular travel to field locations across the Haynesville area (Longview, Lufkin and Shreveport).
- Follows BP's Engineering Principles, complies with BP's Code of Conduct and exhibits bp’s Safety Leadership Principles
- Monthly and quarterly internal and executive presentations of business performance
- Build and update production and cash forecast for 12-month, 2-year and 5-year periods
- Identification and implementation of opportunities to improve safety and business performance
- Emissions reporting and permit approval
- Approve cash costs and decommissioning costs for annual reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline); advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in upstream oil and gas operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing large-scale production assets.
- Proven track record of delivering production targets and optimizing performance in high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) environments.
- Deep understanding of well operations, artificial lift systems, surface facilities, and downhole interventions.
- Demonstrated success in cost management, including LOE reduction, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams, including field operations, engineering, finance, and third-party contractors.
- Strong background in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), incident investigation, and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance, emissions reporting, and environmental permitting in Texas and Louisiana.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI, SQL) and production surveillance platforms.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience delivering updates to executive leadership.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to field locations across the Haynesville area.
