- The ability to build and troubleshoot various types of tools including stamping/forming dies, molds, fixtures, gages, and assembly tooling.
- Assume responsibility for the quality of completed assignments.
- Must be able to work independently, meet productivity, and due date requirements of assignments.
- Problem solve and determine solutions for various types of tooling problems.
- To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:
- The ability to use and apply shop mathematics including geometry, trigonometry, and Machinery's Handbook formulas as required to compete assignments.
- The ability to work independently and apply ingenuity to analyze and resolve problems.
- The ability to design and make your own small fixtures and jigs for machining operations.
- The ability to utilize Lean and Continuous Improvement principles.
- Adhere to all required company safety rules and practices.
- Ability to mentor other team members.
- The ability to operate lathes, mills, grinders, saws, drill press etc.
- Ability to use measuring instruments.
- Understand the 5s principles.
- Ability to operate all standard Tool Room Equipment.
- Build and troubleshoot new tooling per design requirements.
- Completed a formal Tool & Die or Mold Making Apprenticeship.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a certified Tool & Die or Mold Maker working with dies, fixtures and / or molds. Additionally, possessing advanced machining skills to be able to produce machined prototype parts of varied complexities if needed would be preferred.
- Advanced experience in the set-up and operation of conventional sawing, drilling, turning, milling, and grinding equipment. CNC experience is a plus.
- Excellent process planning skills to produce parts / tooling details per drawing specifications.
- The ability to use and apply shop mathematics including geometry, trigonometry, and Machinery's Handbook formulas as required to compete assignments.
- The ability to work from, understand, and produce required tools and / or parts from complicated CAD generated drawings.
- The ability to work independently and apply ingenuity to analyze and resolve problems.
