Location: Parker Middle School (grades 5-6)General Description: The primary responsibility of this position is working with middle school students with Autism who require ABA methodology of instruction to access the curriculum. Services are within a substantially separate setting and require severe DESE licensure. Programming will focus on the academic and behavioral needs of the students assigned to this teacher as liaison. This position requires strong collaboration with the BCBA, related service providers, and general education teachers with whom students are shared. Consistent communication with parents and outside providers is required. Training/Experience writing and implementing behavior support plans. Understanding of de-escalation techniques, ABA, and social thinking curriculum. This teaching position provides elementary school students with Autism specialized instruction based upon their individual Educational Plans. Direct instruction of social skills, communication skills and behavior regulation strategies required. The position will require the successful candidate to work to facilitate instruction specific to the needs of the assigned students. This position includes the use of evidence-based assessment and intervention practices in the prevention, assessment, intervention, and program design efforts that are integrated within a school. In this role the special educator must also be able to manage support staff, work collaboratively with various service providers and oversee the scheduling of staff and students.- Create and design the aspects of schedule, routines, and transitions that promote development and learning- Design, supervise and implement students' IEP plans- Develop curriculum modifications and adaptations, and provide training/consult to assure implementation in the general education classroom.- Develop and maintain individual curriculum binders for students utilizing the ACE specialized curriculum.- Participate & facilitate IEP Team meetings.- Write effective IEPs for students- Collect and analyze student data and monitor student progress in order to make decisions about programming and write quarterly progress reports.- Effectively work with a team of professionals to coordinate services- Undertake various diagnostic testing that identifies student capabilities and recognizes student progress on timely basis ·- Assist classroom teachers with instructional strategies to facilitate meaningful inclusion as appropriate for individual students.- Administer various diagnostic achievement assessments as appropriate that identifies student capabilities as part of the reevaluation process for students.- Write effective evaluation reports summarizing findings and making recommendations for assigned students.Requirements:Successful candidates will hold a Master's degree in special education from an accredited college or university- MA DESE Teaching License-- Severe Disabilities license is required- Strong knowledge of the Principals of ABA.- Experience working with students with Autism.- Experience working with the ACE Curriculum preferred.- Ability to consistently implement behavior support plans- Ability to manage and support multiple ABA para-educators in order to establish effective programming.- Experience in modifying and adapting curriculum to assure students can access the curriculum.- Ability to effectively consult and work collaboratively with various service providers and support staff.- Solid organizational skills.- Experience with IEP development is required.- Solid understanding of the IEP process, state and federal regulations.
