The group is responsible for design and integration for aircraft system upgrades and structural modifications. Responsibilities include the design and liaison of aircraft primary and secondary structure using military and commercial design standards, customer specifications and system requirements documents using 3D CAD. Must be experienced in engineering drawing preparation and interpretation as well as provide leadership review of designs/drawings. The group is primarily responsible for the design and liaison activities related to electrical racks and external antennas.The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for job assignments, manpower estimates, project and engineering status, project bid support, employee training, goals and reviews, and management of overhead budgets. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance to company processes relating to mechanical designs and those processes are periodically reviewed for improvement or currency standards. The Associate Manager sets the highest ethical standards for self and others, commits to Continuous Improvement initiatives and drives positive change throughout the group.Essential Functions:
  • Planning, scheduling, and budgeting tasks for the Mechanical Engineering Team.
  • Design and liaison of aircraft systems and structures utilizing military and commercial design standards, customer specifications and system requirements documents utilizing 3D CAD.
  • Provide liaison to production and manufacturing for interpretation of engineering design/drawings.
  • Sets the highest ethical standards for self and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical Engineering, or similar and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience with mechanical systems design (MS in Mechanical, Aeronautical and/or Systems Engineering a plus).. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Must have knowledge of mechanical design principles of aircraft structure and components.
  • Must have experience in modifications to aircraft primary and secondary structure.
  • Must have experience with electronic equipment and antenna installations.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Must be able to travel as required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Strong analytic and communication skills; ability to coach, train, motivate and manage technical personnel.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering theory, design criteria and complex activities.
  • Ability to write a concise report of findings.
  • Ability to manage complex activities; ability to meet program objectives within contract cost and schedule requirements.
  • Ability to motivate others; sound effective listening skills; pays attention to details; ability to work under pressure; and ability to meet deadlines.
