- Undertaking design and planning activities on maritime projects - container terminals, mining/bulk, oil/gas, marinas, ports and harbors, coastal defense and development schemes.
- Maritime design and planning, including maritime codes/standards such as USACE, PIANC, OCIMF.
- Structural design for wharves, piles, sheet piles, bulkheads, dolphins, across the United States.
- Independently prepare engineering related calculations and develop structural technical specifications, plans, and details.
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
- Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
- Perform condition assessments and site visits as needed.
- Occasional short to medium term site visits may also become necessary depending on project requirements.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field
- 2 year of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid Driver's license required
- Master of Science (with structural engineering concentration)
- Professional Engineering (PE) License
- Five (5) years or more of related experience
- Experience in the design of marine structures including wharves, piles, sheet piles, and dolphins in seismic zones
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of computer analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, RISA 3D, and STAAD.Pro.
- Knowledge in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
- Demonstrable interest in developing a career in Ports & Marine Engineering
