  • Licensed as Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) in the state of Mississippi and Arkansas.
  • Nationally registered as Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
  • Mississippi EMS Driver certification
  • Valid class D drivers license with F endorsement from the state of Tennessee and acceptable motor vehicle record and insurability. (Only applies to Tennessee residents.)

  • Working knowledge of emergency care procedures and techniques and a thorough understanding of their application in the medical transportation environment.

  • Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials, such as patient records.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with associates, physicians, patients, family members, other outside professionals.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment and critical thinking skills in both simple and difficult situations.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and projects to maintain control of workflow.
  • Ability to work independently and tolerate high stress levels.
Key Job Responsibilities
  • Works collaborately with other Pediflite team members to provide high quality pre-hospital and inter-facility advanced critical care.
  • Responsible for the assessment and treatment within the scope of practice of critically ill and neonatal patients needing transport to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
  • Practices independent and collaborative judgment, critical and analytical thinking, decision making, and prioritization using advanced assessment and intervention skills within the scope of practice defined by the Medical Director and appropriate state regulations.
  • Utilizes leadership, collaboration and interpersonal skills to coordinate multidisciplinary teams to facilitate optimum patient care and outcomes.
  • Operates the ambulance in emergency and non-emergency transports. Provides safe and efficient transport of the patient in the ambulance to the medical facility.
  • Ensures all Pedi-Flite equipment and supplies is accounted for, cleaned properly, properly maintained in working condition and available for transport. Relays vital information regarding ambulance issues, equipment malfunctions and supply needs during patient care in a remote environment.
  • Maintains thorough patient care documentation.
  • Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing clinical experiences and monthly and/or annual competencies.
Physical Requirements
  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • Must weigh 240 pounds or less.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 150 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.
