Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair issues related to brake, air systems, electrical, HVAC, drive train and transmission, engine and exhaust, suspension, and steering.
Engage with external manufacturers and warranty contacts to maximize reimbursement of services.
Receive annual training from Navistar & Cummins to stay updated with industry standards.
Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, adhering to dealership and factory standards.
Communicate with the parts department to obtain necessary parts.
Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
Road test vehicles when required to ensure quality of work.
Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
Ensure that vehicles are kept clean and notify service advisor immediately of any changes to the vehicle's appearance or condition.
Maintain a neat and clean shop area.
Be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place and in the same condition as when received.
Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know.
Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner and report any safety issues immediately to management.
Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel technology or a related field.
Must obtain and maintain State of Michigan HDT repair certifications.
