JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Under the direction and supervision of a license physician, provides health care to patients including diagnosis and treatment.
  • Under the supervision of physician, obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, makes diagnosis and orders appropriate and standard laboratory and diagnostic procedures as necessary in the office.
  • Evaluates procedure results and finding to physicians.
  • Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patients plan of care.
  • Provides patient education about underlying medical condition, self-management of acute or chronic illnesses and tailors instructions to patients individual circumstances. Instructs and counsels patients regarding therapeutic regimens, promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Prescribes medications.
  • Administers medication/immunizations, suturing, managing wounds and infections, etc.
  • Documents exam and progress notes. Provides referral letters as needed.
  • In addition to office visits, the Physician Assistant will perform other tests and procedures specific to the specialty.
  • Collects, monitors and reports on patient outcomes.
  • Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patients age-specific needs.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
  • Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
  • Facilitates the patients transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring and discharging patients.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervising physicians.
  • Ensure HIPAA guidelines are followed at all times.

Position RequirementsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • New York State License as a Physician Assistant.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant.
  • Strong preference for Orthopedic(non-surgical) experience in a medical practice setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to work with other medical professionals.
  • EMR experience.
Physical Demands:May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients or objects may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend or twist their body, as well as visual acuity.
