Updated: July 2023Job SummaryThe Parking Host assists guests in properly parking their vehicles, informs them of parking procedures, answers questions, issues parking passes, and ensures that money from the preferred lot is accounted for and accurate. They also provide security staff with information about parking violations. The Transportation and Parking Office is located in the Woodshop-Building Maintenance Area in the Maple Parking lot near the Hibernation House.Job Relationships

- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license (per WSI Vehicle Insurance standards).
- Responsible for providing cold weather gear.
- Confident in functioning on snow and ice, including driving and walking.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, some evenings, and possibly overtime during peak times.
- Ability to cross-sell other departments and businesses at the resort.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of people and handle various tasks and challenging situations professionally.
- Must have a team player attitude and be able to work with people of diverse cultures and ethnicities.
- Flexible with schedule changes on short notice.
- CPR Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of Whitefish Mountain Resort and surrounding communities preferred.
- Ability to maintain a good attitude and provide accurate information during stressful situations.
- Proficient in verbal communication, including radio use, and written communication with customers and co-workers.
- Morning Duties: Check snow reports in preparation for guest inquiries.
- Set up parking lots and walkways daily by posting proper signage and safety equipment.
- Assist in snow removal and salt/gravel distribution as needed.
- Direct traffic safely and efficiently, following specified guidelines.
- Monitor and enforce regulations of driveway openings and fire lane widths.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area by picking up trash/debris in parking lots and walkways during shifts.
- Collect and account for parking fees in designated parking areas.
- Notify and assist Security with vehicles in violation of “no parking zone” regulations.
- Report unsafe working conditions and/or broken equipment to Supervisor promptly.
- Train in safety procedures, including operating fire suppression equipment, wearing personal protective equipment, understanding lockout/tagout program, and Hazardous Communications.
- Report vehicle problems or safety concerns immediately in writing to Vehicle Maintenance Department and/or Supervisor.
- Answer guests’ questions using the WSI Resort Guide and seek additional answers from other departments when needed.
- Ask questions of supervisors and/or co-workers for clarification of procedures or knowledge.
- Meet company requirements for appearance, attendance, and punctuality as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Keep a daily log of guest traffic and track available parking spaces.
- Guide guests to appropriate drop-off areas.
- Understand and adhere to all aspects of the Employee Handbook and departmental training guidelines.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs repetitively and up to 80 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to work while standing or seated for extended periods (up to 4-8 hours daily).
- Ability to work under varying weather conditions, often extreme.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime during peak demand times.
- Flexibility with schedule changes on short notice.
