As a Catering Banquet Bartender your main objective is serving food and beverages to guests at private dining events. Responsible for providing excellent service to members, clients, and guests in a courteous, timely, efficient, and customized manner in accordance with Banquet Event Orders (BEO). This includes set-up and take down of food and beverage stations (alcohol and non-alcohol) and guest tables. Expected to respond to and relay guest and client needs. Continually maintain, improve, and exceed all standards of the MAC, service, member and guest satisfaction, and staff development. Responsible for executing the MAC catering service standards.Essential Job Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Ensures exceptional service of all catering functions.
- Working knowledge of bar service and the use of the Point of Sales computer system.
- Approaches all encounters with members, guests, and colleagues in a friendly, calm, professional, service-oriented manner. Maintains a positive and upbeat demeanor. Learns names of colleagues, members, clients, and guests to individualize interactions with them.
- Reports to work on time, properly groomed, and in proper uniform.
- Set-up food and beverage stations, guest tables, and other event related areas before guest arrival. Washes and dries glassware. Ensures all wells are stocked with ice, garnishes, and bar tools. Ensures bars are stocked with liquor, beer, wine, and juices.
- Serves food & beverage to guests.
- Review BEO and seek clarification as needed. Recommend improvements based on experience and requests of client.
- Monitors guest alcohol consumption throughout banquet or event.
- Remains alert and aware of complaints and/or unsatisfied guests and communicates with Banquet Captain or Catering Manager to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of all bar related equipment.
- Maintain all bars, storage areas, and coolers in a clean and organized manner.
- Removes glassware from catering areas after guest have completed their drink.
- Stock bars with items needed to execute event.
- Maintain the cleanliness of service areas, all equipment and supplies are promptly returned to their proper locations after each event and that all storage areas are clean and organized after every shift.
- Maintain proper pour cost through proper pour techniques and adhearance to department standards.
- Complies with all Club safety policies and procedures demonstrating safe work practices. Identifies and reports unsafe or hazardous work conditions. Reports all workplace injuries and illnesses to supervisor.
- Accepts responsibility and leads by example, particularly as related to SHINE, service standards, consistency, communication, demeanor, appearance, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Promotes the MAC code of conduct in club activities and demonstrates the importance of providing quality service to members.
- Becomes familiar with general knowledge of club to answer questions from guests.
- General knowledge of safety information.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Excellent customer service and decision-making skills including the ability to work effectively with parents and juniors.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members and staff.
- Essential job functions require considerable long periods of standing and walking as well as frequent reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, and moving objects 50 pounds or more.
- Use of kitchen equipment (dishwasher, hot box, silver polisher, knives, etc.) is also required.
- The use of carts & hand trucks for transporting products, and bartending related equipment such as knives, wine openers, blenders is necessary. Ability to perform the essential job functions.
- High school diploma or equivalent highly preferred
- Working knowledge of food and beverage service and operations is required.
- Two years of full service bartending experience.
- Prior experience in private dining or banquets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Ability to work well with a large group of people in a fast-paced, high-stress work environment.
- Must possess a valid Oregon Food Handlers Card and OLCC Service Permit.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- This position is assigned responsibilities that require physical labor.
- The hours of this job are scheduled in advance and based on the needs of client and guest requests.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
