Posting SummaryProvide technical laboratory and field assistance for research on plant ecological genomics. Collect, prepare, and process plant samples for DNA and RNA extraction, sequencing libraries, and related activities. Propagate and maintain plants growing in controlled environments and collect a variety of phenotype measurements on plant growth and performance. It is expected this position will start at a .75 FTE, but there might be possibility depending on funding, to increase to a 1.0 FTE.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)B.S. in Plant Biology, Biology or closely related field.Knowledge of plant genetics and molecular biology necessary to troubleshoot protocols and obtain high-quality DNA and RNA from a variety of plant taxa and sample types.Experience propagating and maintaining plants under controlled conditions
Desirable QualificationsDemonstrated ability to work productively and collaboratively with others as part of a research team and to provide supervision and guidance to junior lab membersFamiliarity with building libraries for genomic sequencing
Anticipated Pay Range $22/hour to $25/hour
Other InformationOccasional need to work weekend hours as needed for field work or plant maintenance. Must have the physical ability to conduct occasional fieldwork in remote locations, requiring carrying equipment and supplies, navigating obstacles, and making good decisions
Special Conditions A probationary period may be required, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), Travel to and from worksites required, Background Check required for this position
