We mobilize thousands of volunteers every year to respond to underserved and overburdened communities' engineering needs.Join Our TeamEWB-USA is seeking a part-time Human Resources (HR) Manager to oversee and manage the people-related aspects of our organization to ensure a productive, engaged, and compliant workforce. This role will bridge our leadership team and employees, balancing organizational goals with employee needs. The HR manager ensures that the workforce is effectively managed, motivated, and aligned with the organization’s mission and values while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe HR manager's role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities essential for fostering a productive and harmonious workplace. These include:Talent acquisition and retention - recruiting qualified candidates, managing onboarding processes to integrate new hires, and developing strategies to retain top talent.Employee relations - mediating workplace conflicts (staff and volunteer), promoting an inclusive culture, and addressing grievances or disciplinary actions to maintain a positive work environment.Performance management and training - implement appraisal systems, provide coaching and feedback, and create development opportunities to enhance skills. Identify skill gaps, organize training programs, and support leadership development.Policy development, compliance, and compensation - establish and enforce policies, ensure adherence to labor laws, and manage workplace safety.Compensation strategies - ensure salary structures and benefits packages are designed to remain competitive and equitable through market research.Employee engagement and strategic alignment with organizational goals - lead initiatives to enhance job satisfaction, promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and foster team-building.Specific TasksStaffingManage processes forRecruitment and SelectionOnboarding and OrientationDevelop and maintain job descriptionsManage reporting processes and respond to conflicts and disputesManage performance management processes (90-day and annual review process, individual annual goal-setting process, staff coaching)Develop and manage individual professional training and developmentCompensation and BenefitsWork with insurance broker on health benefits, communicate with staff, meet complianceDevelop and administer compensation structuresManage out-of-state benefits (like PFML)Policies and ProceduresDevelop and update Employee HandbookDevelop and update related HR/operational policies and proceduresComplianceStaying informed on multi-state employment laws and regulations and handling legal matters related to employment disputes or litigationMaintain employee records and informationMinimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field requiredA minimum of three years of Human Resources Management experience.Demonstrated commitment to diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environmentStrong written and verbal communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skillsDesired Skills and AttributesPassion for EWB-USA’s mission with enthusiasm to inspire others to join and support in these areasProficiency in Google Suite, Paychex HRPhysical Demands and Work Environment (with or without accommodation)Ability to sit or stand at a computer for extended periodsAbility to participate in virtual meetingsOccasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, rarely up to 50 lbsTravel RequirementsMinimalLocationPreference may be given to Denver-based applicants. Flexible location options may be considered for the following states (CA, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KA, MA, MN, MI, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, RI, TN, UT, WA, WI). Occasional travel to Denver may be required.Compensation & BenefitsHiring Range: Hourly, part-time $35-$40 per hour.
