  • Identify the magic and spirit of hospitality at the front desk, creating the first and last impression for our guests
  • Master the check-in and checkout processes at the Front Desk
  • Learn the property management system, phone and radio paging system according to procedures
  • Observe and engage in managing guest issues effectively, keeping in mind both the guest’s needs and business objectives
  • Make restaurant, transportation, activity, or entertainment reservations on behalf of the guest
  • Attend all stand-up meetings
  • Shadow front desk team and demonstrate ability to respond to front desk duties
Housekeeping
  • Provide guests with professional, efficient, prompt, and courteous service
  • Learn to clean and maintain all guestrooms to property health and safety standards and check for damage, identify repairs needed
  • Understand the importance of maintaining supplies and organization
  • Monitors cleanliness of all public areas both inside and out on property
  • Attend all stand-up meetings
  • Work with Lead or Supervisor and demonstrate ability to clean rooms according to standards
Laundry
  • Learn how to maintain linen and towel par levels for all hotel operations
  • Understand the health and safety protocols for sorting soiled hotel linen, and other laundry for pickup by laundry service(s). Shadow how to receive and process laundry service deliveries
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Work with Laundry team to learn the role
  • Proven ability to work independently
Administration
  • Observe how to promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
  • Support in the creation of the annual department operating budget and financial plans
  • Learn how to engage with department heads to run a successful hotel
  • Understand how to identify sales opportunities to enhance revenue. Drive promotions and participate in revenue management
  • Ensure financial transactions are handled in a secure manner
  • Witness direction of staffing requirements, performance and development goals for team members
  • Document how to educate and train all team members in compliance with governmental regulations
  • Comprehend how to achieve quality and guest satisfaction goals
  • Observe aspects of the Revenue Generation using strategic techniques to design, build, and promote packages, specials/offerings to increase occupancy and revenue across our portfolio of properties
  • Participate in calls with the Sales and Marketing Team, Revenue Management, People & Culture
  • Maintains confidentiality of all guest information and pertinent hotel data
Final Report/Capstone Project Presentation
  • Deliver a report to The Sparrow Leadership, People & Culture and BSU Resort and Hospitality Management Program on your student leadership project
The Nitty Gritty
  • Previous hospitality or customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in cash handling & computerized Point of Sale system preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
