- Develop and implement innovative technologies to improve understanding of multiphase flow and formation evaluation of unconventional and conventional reservoirs.
- Investigate impact of confining effects, complex minerology, flow porous media, and petrophysical properties and integrate understanding at multiple length-scales.
- Conduct research and stay updated on novel developments in reservoir characterization and development.
- Research topics to include but are not limited to transport properties, enhanced recovery, fluid-fluid and fluid-rock interactions, and improving formation evaluation in unconventional and conventional reservoirs.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to apply research results to unconventional reservoirs and identify new research needs.
- Analyze field data including geological, petrophysical, completion and production data as needed.
- Interface with external institutions for outsourced analyses and collaborative research, and work with commercial vendors for equipment acquisition, support, and upgrades.
- Prepare comprehensive written reports on R&D activities.
- Represent ASC at outside technical meetings or conferences.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to team, management, and visitors, illustrating research problems, results, and conclusions.
- Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
- Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies and broad technical challenges in the research area.
- Collaborate with other R&D areas within the company to enhance research activities.
- Develop original and unique approaches to solve difficult and diverse engineering problems.
- Ensure a safe, accident-free laboratory environment.
- Follow all company safety and cybersecurity rules.
- Travel for conferences, presentations, and business trips as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- B.S. Degree in Science/Engineering/Physics/Mathematics Discipline as appropriate for the area of expertise for the assigned jobs is required at minimum with a Ph.D. in related fields being preferred and highly desirable.
- Seven years (7) experience in a substantive industrial, technological or laboratory area relevant to the jobs assignment is required at minimum with ten (10) years being preferred.
- Post-degree experience focusing on experimental studies related to flow in unconventional reservoirs or other tight material systems is highly desirable.
- Post-degree experience focusing on formation evaluation in unconventional and conventional reservoirs is highly desirable.
- Experience preparing technical reports, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and making oral/graphic presentations is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with computer programming using Python, C++ and MatLab is preferred.
- Comfortable working as part of a project team or independently.
- Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined.
- Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
