Your Role:As a Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for working with our customers to understand their individual Database monitoring needs and build out innovative and differentiated solutions that will help these organizations to simplify the management of their database environment. You will need to understand the capabilities of SolarWinds software, the needs of our customers, and facilitate a meeting of the two. You will work in a partnership with our sales team who will handle the commercial and legal requirements, while you focus on becoming a trusted advisor to our customers to earn their trust and deliver amazing results. To achieve results, you will need to be comfortable working with product specialist engineers, business unit resources, marketing and product.This position requires the ability to effectively perform detailed product demonstrations, during which you must effectively promote product solutions, answer audience questions and clearly ascertain the prospect's needs and requirements. As a Solutions Architect, you must demonstrate expert knowledge of the entire SolarWinds Database product portfolio.Your Impact:
  • Build complex proof of concept (POC) solutions for customer evaluations as part of the sales engagement process. Customize prospect's environment to meet all technical requirements to satisfy POC.
  • Help install and configure on-premises and cloud-based database monitoring and optimization products.
  • Leverage the consultative sales process for prospective users to determine product capability assessment and validation, as it applies to the technical sales process.
  • Assist sales reps in offering product solutions that solve business needs and overcome challenges. Explain benefits of SolarWinds products and achieve cross-selling.
  • Assist prospects during the product evaluation cycle by responding to technical queries via email. Troubleshoot with developers and provide online remote assistance to solve moderately complex pre-sales support problems.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting techniques on all SolarWinds database products. Field escalations to product or development teams.
  • Identify product-specific areas for improvement to enhance the evaluation experience.
  • Conduct detailed, online technical deep-dive demonstrations and webinars, while effectively promoting product features, answering audience questions, and clearly ascertaining the prospect's needs and requirements.
  • Deliver training, in-person or via technical webinars, on new and updated products to pre-sales, other staff, and partners.
  • Travel locally, nationally, and internationally for trade shows, customer visits, and headquarters visits.
  • Write technical responses to RFP, RFQ, and RFI documents.
  • Mentor newer SE's and take a lead role in continuing education efforts for the team.
Your Experience:Basic Qualifications:
  • BS/BA or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent education/experience.
  • 4+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and/or other data platform technologies.
  • Strong knowledge or first-hand experience with database administration and performance optimization (DBA practitioner, Manager or Director in a previous life).
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn new database technologies required.
  • Must have excellent reasoning and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills are critical for this position.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision and thrive in dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
  • A strong mix of technical ability, sales and customer interaction skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SQL Server and Cloud Provider data technologies, including installation, configuration, TSQL coding, performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Experience with other relational and NoSQL technologies such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
  • Prior experience in a similar pre-sales or technical role within a software vendor or a preferred partner/systems integrator.
  • MCDBA, Azure Data Platform and/or other certifications a plus.
Travel Requirements:
  • Ability to travel 20%
