Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records. May prepare request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages.Basic QualificationsBachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 3 years of professional experience; or 1 year of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered experienced, but still a learner.Overall, the role requires a professional who is not only adept at the tactical aspects of procurement but also strategically minded, able to leverage technology, and focused on delivering high-quality service to internal customers.The candidate should have prior experience in procurement or buying, indicating familiarity with the processes and challenges associated with acquiring products in a fast-paced dynamic environment.Ability to think strategically is crucial, particularly for managing a large number of parts and purchase requisitions. This involves looking for opportunities to achieve economies of scale, such as negotiating long-term pricing agreements with suppliers to reduce costs.The candidate must be able to work independently and manage a high volume of purchase requirements and supply chain tasks efficiently. This includes handling all aspects related to their assigned commodity or desk and the associated purchase orders.Being highly organized is necessary for effectively managing multiple tasks, prioritizing work, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced procurement environment.A strong customer service orientation is required; involves interacting with internal stakeholders (such as different departments within the organization) to understand their procurement needs and ensure timely, effective fulfillment of those needs.Desired skillsExperience in utilization of Lockheed Martin's suite of tools including but not limited to:
