Job Description:Job Title: K-8 Science Support Short Term AssignmentLocation: Cabarrus County SchoolsJob Summary: The K-8 Science support position is designed to enhance science instruction in elementary schools across Cabarrus County. This position involves collaborating with educators, providing professional development, and ensuring the effective implementation of the K-8 science curriculum and instruction. This position will focus on improving student outcomes, supporting diverse learning needs, and fostering a positive, inclusive educational environment. This position will run from October 2025 through June 2026 for 15-20 hours per week.Reports to Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and InstructionKey Responsibilities:Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Attend relevant Curriculum and Instruction department meetings and participate in departmental and district PLCs, facilitating discussions as needed.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the NC Standard Course of Study.
Support and Development:
  • Provide targeted support for schools in alignment to our district tiered support model specifically in 5th grade science.
  • Support teachers by fostering their professional growth through direct support and professional development opportunities.
Curriculum Development:
  • Develop and maintain district curriculum documents, incorporating research-based instructional strategies and materials.
  • Analyze data to recommend effective instructional strategies aimed at improving student learning.
  • Create science resources for alignment with curriculum standards.
Professional Development:
  • Design and deliver professional development aligned with school improvement plans and the needs of educators.
  • Facilitate reflective practice among educators, engaging in data digs and classroom walkthroughs to inform instructional strategies.
Instructional Leadership:
  • Collaborate and empower teacher leaders within the schools, promoting effective and engaging teaching and learning practices.
  • Participate in and reflect on district-wide data digs and classroom observations to continuously improve instructional practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid North Carolina teaching license in Science.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development and instructional leadership.
  • Strong understanding of K-12 standards progression.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive educational environment.
