- Perform detailed design engineering of electrical, structural and civil aspects of utility-scale energy storage augmentation projects
- Manage multiple concurrent high volume battery augmentation projects from conception through execution, working closely with external Engineers of Record, Project Managers and permitting, procurement, interconnection and construction teams
- Prepare technical scopes of work for incorporation into contract documents
- Support projects from conception through execution, working closely with early-stage and construction project managers
- Influence project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work, including close collaboration with and oversight of external Engineers of Record
- Maintain familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical areas
- Influence project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work
- Collaborate with suppliers to successfully integrate major equipment
- Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams for problem solving, process improvement opportunities, and system integration and controls
- Support energy storage strategies through technical and market analysis
- Identify value engineering opportunities as well as emerging technologies prospects
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- An SME in substation or utility scale energy storage design and/or project management, with established expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Design and/or operation of large-scale power generation or processing plants involving adherence to regulatory requirements while maximizing the performance and reliability of technically complex systems
- Hands-on experience and knowledge of construction methods, including foundations, trenching, electrical terminations and testing, and best safety practices
- Strong knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistries, power conversion units and DC-DC converters
- Lithium-ion battery storage safety: Familiarity with UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections
- Familiarity with interconnection studies and GIA material modification adjustment (MMA) processes, particularly in WECC and CAISO
- Construction permitting and contracting experience
- Shows maturity of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively conveying technical and non-technical concepts to diverse audiences
