- Provide direct one-on-one or small-group behavioral support to students across general and special education settings.
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed by behavior specialists or classroom teachers.
- Support students in developing social, emotional, and self-regulation skills through evidence-based practices.
- Assist students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, and other school routines to promote positive behaviors.
- Collect and record behavioral data accurately to monitor student progress and inform intervention strategies.
- Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques, including reinforcement strategies, prompting, and fading procedures.
- Assist in crisis prevention and intervention using de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, school psychologists, behavior interventionists, and parents to support student success.
- Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings when required, providing behavioral observations and data reports.
- Attend mandatory training sessions related to behavior management, data collection, and district policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with district, state, and federal regulations.
- Successful candidate must possess high school diploma, or equivalent plus two years paid or verifiable volunteer experience providing behavior related services
- Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and patient in high-stress situations.
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet district hiring requirements.
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License may be required.
- Ability to frequently exert 10 to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to work at a desk and in meetings of various configurations.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions of weather and temperature.
- Ability to bend, twist, stoop, and reach.
- Ability to walk over uneven surfaces to access student locations and participate in activities.
