- Oversee multiple large and/or small projects to completion, ensuring the effective execution of the project plan; manage client relationships, guide teams to use Rockwood methodology for excellent delivery, execute quality assurance processes, build growth strategies, and be a subject matter expert individual contributor as the work demands.
- Serve as the primary client relationship point of contact, uncovering client and stakeholder needs, wants, and motivations to advance project/account outcomes.
- Advise Project Managers to manage the project work through creative and diligent project planning, crafting project approaches, assigning roles and responsibilities, monitoring success and managing risks, discussing needs and options with clients, measuring results, and adapting as new information and stakeholders engage.
- Design, develop, and produce high-quality deliverables efficiently, using proven methodologies and frameworks; coach team members to create and continuously improve work products and processes.
- Provide expert guidance for teams on data gathering efforts (e.g., interviews or quantitative data collection/analysis) and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Design, facilitate, and manage large-scale client strategy and decision-making sessions.
- Ensure client delivery reflects comprehensive analysis and interpretation of available information, even when data is incomplete, ambiguous, or complex; guides team to synthesize information into clear and concise writing and visuals for use by diverse stakeholder groups to advance project outcomes.
- Serve as lead subject matter expert writer during proposal development, which includes writing content and advising on approaches.
- Be responsible for full end-to-end business development capture activities; initiate, foster, and guide others in developing new business opportunities based on a deep understanding of client requirements and unmet needs, then work with Rockwood leadership to develop and lead approaches for securing work.
- Lead project teams by providing direction, support, and mentorship, ensuring team members' professional growth and development while achieving project objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality and trustworthiness with clients and staff, developing relationships in service of client mission and project/account results.
- Develop and deliver Rockwood's internal training classes to grow Rockwood capabilities.
- Champion at least one of Rockwood's consulting methodologies and provide coaching and mentoring to the Rockwood team (as the resident Rockwood subject matter expert).
- Support recruitment activities to attract, evaluate, and bring onboard the best talent.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Must hold an active Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret clearance with SCI
- Bachelor's degree
- 15 plus years of relevant work experience, including six (6) years as an external management consultant
- Experience leading change management projects; prior experience leading strategy development, organizational design, and workforce readiness
- Experience developing team members into exceptional consultants, teaching basic to advanced consulting frameworks and providing hands-on coaching and continuous feedback
- Strong project management skills and ability to support multiple engagements simultaneously and prioritize demands
- Strong analytical, strategic, and critical thinking with an innate ability to solve complex problems creatively
- Client/customer focus with outstanding organization skills and attention-to-detail
- Strong leadership with the willingness and ability to directly contribute to the creation of client deliverables, not just advise
- Willingness to commute to client locations full-time (5 days a week), in and around the Washington metropolitan area; occasional travel outside of the Washington, D.C. area
- Master's degree
