We are committed to giving back to the community through the Golden State Foods Foundation and we are just as committed to your development and future at QCD.JOB SUMMARY:We are looking for a strong Transportation Manager to oversee activities related to a facility’s transportation, ensuring that Division and Company objectives for efficiency, economy, quality, and productivity are met or exceeded. We distribute to hundreds of locations for our customers and this is a good union location. Union experience is a plus, but is not required. Prefer prior driving experience before transitioning to management is preferred. Bilingual/Spanish a plus. There are about 50 drivers (both Class A and B) in a location that has about 110 associates.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Plans and coordinates warehouse, transportation, or purchasing activities to ensure that department and GSF productivity and quality objectives are met or exceeded. (25%)
  • Manages assigned staff, assigning work, providing training and development, evaluating performance, and building a motivated, effective team to ensure that organizational goals for diversity, career development, productivity, performance management and employee involvement are met. Assists in the recruitment and selection of employees. (20%)
  • Audits operational procedures and programs to identify and implement improvements in product availability, storage, sanitation, security and inventory delivery, resulting in increased timeliness and productivity. (15%)
  • Develops, audits, and controls the budget within plan. (10%)
  • Oversees purchasing, leasing, and maintenance of distribution equipment (tractors, trailers, material handling equipment) to achieve safety, longevity, and efficiency objectives. (10%)
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to comply with company, customer, and regulatory agency guidelines for safety and productivity. (10%)
  • Communicates with senior management and employees to ensure the effective dissemination of company policies, analysis, and operations-related information required for effective decision-making. (10%)
  • Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to:Education/Certification:
Preferred, NOT REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in purchasing or logistics management from an accredited college or universityExperience:
3+ years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment with increasing management experience preferably in a management role and experience in Transportation/DOT.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of (B/basic; J/journey; E/expert):
