Description of WorkThe Nebraska Statewide Workforce & Educational Reporting System (NSWERS) at the University of Nebraska is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of Data Scientist, Workforce & Education to develop research and evaluation efforts for the NSWERS organization.The Data Scientist will work closely with the Assistant Director of Research and NSWERS partnering organizations to plan, organize, and execute research and evaluation functions. This includes both conducting and providing oversight for the technical quality of data analysis. Additional responsibilities will include providing in-house evaluation designs to inform public policy and educational practice in alignment with the NSWERS Information and Research Agenda.Please note: This position/ department is not offering sponsorship.#LI-DNI
Minimum Required QualificationsBachelor's degree and three (3) years data analysis experience that includes:
  • Creating data visualizations
  • Statistics/data modeling
  • Transforming datasets, e.g. aggregating multiple csv files, summarizing, and exporting
  • Using research results to write reports, papers and present findings to internal and external stakeholders including making presentations in a business or professional setting.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
Preferred QualificationsMaster's degreeCollege coursework in statistics, psychology, education, computer science, or related quantitative field.Experience in institutional research at an educational institutionExperience with multi-level/mixed effects models for longitudinal/nested dataExperience producing reports using RMarkdown/QuartoIdeal candidates will work cooperatively with interdisciplinary teams; have excellent problem-solving and listening skills; work with modern developments, trends, and theories in statistics, research methodology, program evaluation, and educational research; be an optimistic, positive, resilient, insightful, and performance-driven decision maker, problem solver, and consensus builder.
