Duration: 6 MonthsJob Description:
- An AS400 Synon DBA is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing databases on the IBM iSeries platform, particularly those built or supported by Synon (CA 2E) applications.
- They ensure the integrity, security, and performance of these crucial business data stores.
- Responsibilities: Database Administration: Setup, configure, and maintain the DB2 database on iSeries.
- Monitor database performance and perform tuning for optimal efficiency.
- Implement and manage database security measures, including user access and permissions.
- Perform regular backups and recovery processes.
- Manage SQL Triggers and journal maintenance.
- Provide technical support for database-related issues.
- Synon Application Support: Analyze, design, and program on iSeries systems, particularly for applications developed in Synon (CA 2E).
- Troubleshoot and debug Synon applications and programs.
- Enhance and support existing Synon applications.
- Integrate Synon applications with other iSeries components like RPG, CL, and DB2/400.
- Assist in installation, configuration, and maintenance of iSeries hardware and operating system software.
- Manage system resources and ensure optimal utilization.
- Coordinate software installation, upgrades, and patches.
- Participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery, and high availability planning.
- Collaborate with developers, IT teams, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical support.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in project teams and provide updates to management.
- Strong knowledge of IBM iSeries (AS/400) administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with DB2 database administration, including performance tuning and optimization.
- Strong in Synon
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages.
- Experience with Synon (CA 2E) development toolset.
- Knowledge of related programming languages like RPG, CL, and COBOL is beneficial.
- Familiarity with data backup and recovery strategies and best practices.
- Understanding of database architecture and data modeling.
- Experience with specific tools like Data Mirror, Tivoli, Mimix, or others as needed.
