Students with disabilities 7-12 or Students with disabilities 5-9; Literacy K-12
*Additional Certification in Science preferredREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards, resources and classroom management
  • Understanding various disabilities, teaching strategies, and behavioral management techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to create a positive student centered learning environment.
  • Utilization of student assessments and data processes to identify programmatic needs, as well as target support for individual students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and grade level team to design, modify, and implement effective lesson (unit) plans.
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods for instruction at the Middle School level.
  • Demonstrate ability to design and implement lessons to meet the learning needs of students with varying levels of ability.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • 1.0 FTE Grades 6-8 Special Education Teacher and Literacy Teacher
  • Delivery of Specially Designed Instruction using a variety of instructional models and across the continuum of special education programming (integrated co-teaching, special class).
  • Delivery of explicit and targeted literacy intervention
  • Understanding of various disabilities, teaching strategies, and behavioral management techniques.
  • Required progress monitoring and reporting per regulation requirements.
  • Ongoing training and workshops to stay updated on best practices and legal requirements in special education.
  • Content certification (7-12) in literacy and science (preferred)
