*Additional Certification in Science preferredREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards, resources and classroom management
- Understanding various disabilities, teaching strategies, and behavioral management techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to create a positive student centered learning environment.
- Utilization of student assessments and data processes to identify programmatic needs, as well as target support for individual students.
- Collaborate with faculty and grade level team to design, modify, and implement effective lesson (unit) plans.
- Knowledge of the principles and methods for instruction at the Middle School level.
- Demonstrate ability to design and implement lessons to meet the learning needs of students with varying levels of ability.
- 1.0 FTE Grades 6-8 Special Education Teacher and Literacy Teacher
- Delivery of Specially Designed Instruction using a variety of instructional models and across the continuum of special education programming (integrated co-teaching, special class).
- Delivery of explicit and targeted literacy intervention
- Understanding of various disabilities, teaching strategies, and behavioral management techniques.
- Required progress monitoring and reporting per regulation requirements.
- Ongoing training and workshops to stay updated on best practices and legal requirements in special education.
- Content certification (7-12) in literacy and science (preferred)
