- Ensures and maintains patient and family confidentiality at all times.
- Provides oversight of Event Reporting System to ensure review and follow-up to promote clinical quality and patient safety.
- Assists with the development, optimization and implementation of informatics systems as they relate to clinical documentation standards.
- Completes chart review and audits and reports findings into NSQIP database.
- Network with peers on data collection, management and analysis techniques. Relay new information to hospital employees.
- Participates in professional activities to keep abreast of technical developments in the professional field.
- Assumes an appropriate professional demeanor. Acts as a role model.
- Participate in committees as appropriate.Participate/act as a facilitator in PI Teams. Cultivate and develop PI skills of team leaders.
- Follow CMS requirements for QIO Core measurement collection, reporting, analysis, and education.
- Medical Staff Quality Improvement Support: Manage specified aspects of the Medical Staff chart review process. Disseminate physician-related QA information to appropriate parties.
- Maintains clinical expertise through formal and informal education.
- Identifies opportunities to improve practices. Supports QI efforts to improve those practices.
- Maintains flexibility with regard to hours in order to provide for all and as unusual needs are identified.
- Assumes special projects as directed.Recognizes opportunities for projects to benefit the hospital.
- Collects and reports external and internal indicators as specified. Ensures data integrity and adheres to reporting timelines.
- Collaborates and cooperates with federal, state and local health departments and agencies as requested or required.
- Monitors internal trends with external benchmarks and analyzes data by relevant Infection Prevention characteristics.
- Participates in the orientation for new hires and annual nursing education series.
- Serves as a professional resource person in areas of specialty and provides advice and guidance necessary to resolve complex patient care problems.
- Participates in departmental and hospital efforts to continually improve systems.
- Promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills for the staff.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, detail-oriented and self-directed.
- Skilled in investigation, statistical and analytical methods, interpretation and analysis of data, with ability to present data and its interpretation in comprehensive report formats.
- Ability to work as an analytical problem solver who can make high quality judgements and recommendations.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and other members of the health-care team.
- Ability to function as internal consultant to senior leaders, clinicians, managers, and staff.
- Project management, team training, familiarity with CMS and other regulatory standards.
- Bachelors degree in Nursing or clinical specialty
- Masters in Nursing or clinical specialty
- Three years of related health care experience in data management and quality improvement processes and or informatics
- Five years of related health care experience in data management and quality improvement processes and or informatics
- Current VT RN, RT, PT, or OT licensure in good standing with no restrictions or stipulations
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) desired.
