- Use an oxygen acetylene torch to braze and rework hot knife blades into brass holders with precision.
- Operate hand tools (wrenches, pliers, hammers, screwdrivers, wire strippers/crimpers), torches, drills, die grinders, abrasive cutoff wheels and lift equipment as needed.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform precision mechanical assembly – including the use of feeler gauges, digital calipers, as well as hand finishing of precision tooling as required.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly diagrams related to tooling and tooling specifications. Occasionally required to make changes to rotary knives via grinding.
- Survey and gather tooling on the production floor multiple times per shift for inspection and rework.
- Gather used tooling regularly and expedite its timely shipment to vendors for processing.
- Testing and Inspection of tooling returned to the tool cage, prior to storing.
- Make up new zinger rubber assemblies daily to maintain stock for production support.
- Utilize zinger rubber slitting machine to cut sheets of zinger rubber into strips as needed.
- Control safety supplies and production consumables, tracking and communicating inventory levels, and issuing supplies to production personnel – ensuring no unauthorized personnel have access to the supplies or tool cage.
- Troubleshoot machine issues as related to tooling and assist with gathering parts for production setups.
- Maintain the tool cage housekeeping daily – ensuring surfaces are clean and stock is neatly organized.
- Follow AIB and ISO guidelines while performing daily functions.
- 2+ years of machine operator experience preferred, with strong mechanical skills.
- **Key Skill: ** Expertise in mechanical repair and torch work (oxygen acetylene preferred).
- Must have work background familiar with identifying parts and tooling for converting machinery.
- Able to read digital calipers, feeler gauges, and other measurement equipment including a multimeter.
- Basic math skills for measurements and inventory.
- Must be able to use a computer and be proficient with Microsoft Office programs and able to learn SAP.
- Hands on approach to work, ability to problem solve, and think outside of the box.
- Ability to follow schedules, work orders, and instructions independently.
- Proven strong performance in current or prior roles.
- Able to work overtime, weekends, and possible off-shift.
