- Performs quantity takeoffs for a discipline or commodity specialty using defined documents. Collects, reconciles, and verifies data for summary comparisons.
- Prepares portions of estimates by contacting project team and others, including vendors, to develop and apply unit rates and installation rates to quantity takeoffs and work operations within a discipline or other specialty.
- Produces cost estimates using crew-based approach including formation of crews from multiple crafts.
- Provides input to estimate basis documentation capturing assumptions, rationale, scope inclusions and exclusions for specific contributions.
- Supports reporting efforts and estimate summary presentations for estimate reviews.
- Supports identification of risk items to portions of the project work; identifies measures to mitigate risk.
- Evaluates productivity and develops probable construction cost based on crew craft productivity and production.
- Provides support for special estimating and other assignments, including post-Proposal support converting the estimate to a budget (budgeting, revenue loading, data entry and collection, etc.)
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction management, business management or related field OR minimum of 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Estimating or Project Controls.
- Advanced level of expertise in the use of MS Word and MS Excel.
- Basic knowledge of project controls concepts, processes and procedures specifically project schedules, work breakdown structure and budgets.
- Experience with heavy civil estimate development .
- Right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship
- Experience with capital cost estimate development.
- Experience in Heavy Civil, Rail Transit systems and or highway estimating
- Ability to perform productivity analysis of construction operations and verify results by staffing and crew analysis of work operations by craft.
- Understanding of cost index and escalation projections.
- Proficient in estimating applications used for discipline estimates and basic knowledge of general estimating systems currently being used by Bechtel (Microsoft Suite of Tools, HCSS, etc.).
