
Bridge Inspection Team Leader

- Stay current with industry standards, codes, and best practices related to bridge inspection and maintenance.
- Plan, perform, and supervise bridge inspections in accordance with current NBI Standards and all safety guidelines
- Deliver comprehensive bridge inspection reports that technically support the structure’s existing condition using client specific templates, forms and electronic data collect systems
- Have a good working knowledge of engineering principles and how they apply including ability to identify structural and hazardous issues and provide recommendations
- Supervise and mentor inspection team members
- Work in a team to perform design calculations, estimates, specifications and bid documents for various bridge and culvert rehabilitation/replacement projects
- Prepare bridge load rating calculations and reports using various analysis software.
- Review structural shop drawings, submittals and RFIs as well as provide field construction oversight
- Monitoring of project budgets and schedules and assist with proposal development
- Attend meetings and interact with clients, consultants, vendors
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year university
- Minimum 4 years' experience with a focus on bridge inspections
- Massachusetts Professional Engineering License is preferred - PE licensure from other states accepted
- Completion of FHWA-NHI-130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges)
- Experience with structural engineering design and/or bridge load ratings with the use of analysis software
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office Suite products
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
- Record of safe working habits
- Physical ability to perform field work year-round in adverse weather conditions and work around bridges, roads, rail, water, and tunnels
- Physical ability to carry ladders and gear, work at heights, and work in water with waders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel within Massachusetts
- Must have a vehicle or ability to obtain a vehicle
- A current and valid Class D Motor Vehicles Operator’s license
- Additional FHWA/NHI Training - Fracture Critical, Moveable Bridge, Tunnel, or Ancillary Structures
- SPRAT Certified Rope Access Technician
- Experience Delivering reports in MassDOT Bridge Inspection Management Systems
- Willingness to travel outside Massachusetts on occasion
