All U.S. based team members are eligible for select fully funded diplomas, certificates, and degrees through high-quality programs, schools, and universities starting day one of employment.SUMMARY: The Laboratory Supervisor position is responsible for overseeing the operations of the laboratory in Tecumseh and Waverly, ensuring ISO-17025 standards are followed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:Supervise laboratory (2) operations to maintain quality and efficiency as they apply to the laboratories area, including quality control records, forms, files etc.Perform and interpret test results, notifying the Sr. Manager FSQA of deviationsSupervise training of new and current laboratory personnel in laboratory proceduresManagement of direct reports including hiring, training, and performance evaluationsReviews, rewrites and keeps current all laboratory policies and procedures in accordance with regulations to conform with quality assurance requirementsReport equipment failuresSupervise quality control procedures and documentation to support compliance with ISO 17025 guidelinesInitiate laboratory non- compliance investigation in order to establish corrective actionAssist in inventory maintenance and budgetPerform internal audits of laboratory processes as directedPerform workbench as needed to ensure samples are handled in a timely mannerWill be required to independently travel to Tecumseh plant 2-3 dayOther duties as assignedAbility to operate equipment and handle lab materials safely and effectively, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices and laboratory practices.Knowledge of technical information behind each test performedTrouble shooting skills essentialMust be able to work independently and make decisionsWillingness to function and work as a teamWillingness to travel freely between both plantsORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:In the absence of the Laboratory Supervisor, the FSQA Manager or Sr Manager FSQA will take on all quality and food safety related duties conducted by the Laboratory SupervisorREQUIREMENTS:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science or related fieldExperience: 2+ years leadership or supervisory experience required. Testing and laboratory experience in food industry preferredCommunication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft office. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
