- Maintain acceptable attendance in accordance with the policies of AFL.
- Perform efficient and consistent Job Setups in accordance with defined Standards.
- Assist other operators with machine set-up and operation as needed.
- Monitor and interpret key process indicators as a driver for improved quality and efficiency.
- Ensure daily / weekly / monthly production goals are achieved.
- Perform accurate dimensional, physical, visual, and other inspections of product as per Inspection Test Plans and Specification Requirements.
- Test the transmission capability of fiber in cable with an OTDR.
- Accurate transactional entry of material consumption, production data and quality results.
- Create Non-Conformance reports (NCMIRs) as required.
- Achieve and maintain necessary production process and quality control certifications.
- Provide training to SWR Line Assistant as needed to achieve SWR Line Technician I certification.
- Continuous accountability to 6S/Housekeeping principles.
- Complete assigned Preventive Maintenance tasks on time.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance is performed on inspection equipment before use.
- Support Process Engineer and Process Technicians in troubleshooting processing and quality issues.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by production management.

- Must not be sensitized to resins used in the manufacturing process.
- Must be able to differentiate between color shades (cannot be color blind).
- Must not have impaired vision (corrected vision is acceptable).
- Able to comprehend and follow work instructions, apply basic math, and use handheld measurement devices.
- Manual dexterity while working with precision components is required.
- Mechanically oriented with the ability to solve problems and implement change.
- 2-4 years’ experience in related field. Experience in premise / loose tube / stainless steel buffering experience a plus, but not requirement.
- Previous experience with microscopes or vision systems a plus, but not requirement.
- Strong communication and writing skills with the ability to clearly explain issues.
- Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Good computer skills. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Oracle a plus.
- Able to pass pre-employment physical / drug screen and ongoing random drug screens.
- No pending, active, or a repetitive history of disciplinary action.
- Dependable with exceptional attendance history.
- Available to work overtime, off shift, and weekends with limited prior notice.
- Must be able to lift between 15 and 30 pounds frequently on a daily basis.
- Manufacturing occurs in a climate controlled cleanroom.
- 12 hour rotating shifts.
- Job involves sitting, standing, walking, and lifting for periods of time throughout the day.
- Job requires handling of reels, monitoring lines, and distinguishing colors.
- Personal protective equipment requirements:
- Safety Glasses must be worn at all times.
- Cleanroom garment, steel toe shoes, and head covering must be worn in the cleanroom.
- Operators will don and doff gear when entering and exiting the cleanroom.
- Some positions may require ear plugs.
- Rubber/Nitrile gloves must be worn when handling resins.
- Certified Technician II, WTC Technician II, or SWR Line Assistant II
- Current EHS/Quality certification and EHS training
