Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.Job DescriptionThe primary duty of the Kansas City Municipal Team Lead is to manage a team whose focus will be delivering projects for municipalities and local agencies in the Kansas City metro area, and Missouri and Kansas. Additionally, this position will build relationships with clients, identify future project opportunities and develop win strategy, recruit staff, and provide project delivery as project manager.The Kansas City Municipal Team Lead will need to provide Project Manager responsibilities and deliver transportation projects for municipalities in the Kansas City Metro area. Familiarity with city/county agencies in the KC metro area is vital. The ideal candidate will have previous leading roles performing concept/feasibility studies and have an ability to mentor and oversee design tasks which could include traffic, storm drainage, permitting, utilities, complete streets, and pedestrian/bike aspects of projects.Experience must include urban and rural municipal transportation projects, traffic engineering, concept alignments, geometrical layout, and design representation during construction. Coordination of multi-discipline projects including survey, grading, drainage, structures, utilities, and layout of various site items is a requirement. Experience supervising a medium size team of professionals is beneficial. Project Management, quality assurance/control performance, and technical review experience is important. Marketing and project pursuit experience is a key requirement of this position.This position would also include a leadership role in preparation and negotiation with clients for engineering contracts including fee proposals, scope of work, and project schedules. The role will also include routine communication (verbal and written) with clients, support and advise junior engineers and technical staff, preparation of reports and technical memos, coordination with sub-consultant project partners, and maintaining oversight of project schedules and budgets.*LI-BC1QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • PE license in Missouri and Kansas
  • 10 years of experience in municipal transportation design
  • Client development and marketing experience
  • Well organized with multi-tasking skills
  • Experience with municipal clients in Missouri and Kansas
  • Experience with supervising the work of a project team as a Project Manager
  • Experience with mentoring junior staff
  • Experience using Microstation, Geopak, and/or InRoads design software in version SS2, SS4, and/or CONNECT and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Document control experience (ProjectWise a plus)
  • A cheerful and welcoming outlook and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management experience
  • Excellent marketing experience preferred
  • Prior consulting experience is a positive, but not required
  • Career history in the Kansas City metro area is preferred
