Let’s discuss!Provides technical and administrative assistance to a laboratory staff by maintaining equipment and supplies, maintaining glassware, and preparing materials.Duties:
  • Prepare common media and solutions. Some cases, you will need to do autoclave.
  • Record and organize purchase receipts physically and in Excel.
  • Make Petri dish plates for C. elegans and bacteria.
  • Maintain, clean and make frozen stocks of C. elegans strains.
  • Maintains a variety of laboratory equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs.
  • Maintains glassware and other equipment by picking up, cleaning, washing, sterilizing, and distributing.
  • May use acid or autoclave equipment.
  • Collects, sorts, and delivers laundry. Prepares and sets up equipment and ensures cleanliness of laboratory.
  • Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Ensures proper amount is available at all times. Labels, sorts, and stores supplies.
  • Assists in the preparation of materials including teaching or research materials.
  • Provides technical assistance to laboratory staff.
  • Provides administrative assistance to laboratory staff by answering phones, running miscellaneous errands, maintaining daily logs and equipment record information.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
QualificationsRequired Education: High School Diploma or GEDSkills:
  • Ability to pay attention to detail as well as organization skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Keep record of the tasks performed.
  • Ability to handle and clean laboratory equipment and glassware.
Advertised Physical Requirements:
  • Physical: Standing for prolonged periods. Manual dexterity. Reaching, bending, stooping, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Pushing and pulling.
  • Environmental: Research laboratory environment. Exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials and equipment noise.

  • Has patience in doing science.

  • Good written and verbal communication.
