
Shop Foreman

- Supervise and direct mechanics and technicians in daily maintenance and repair tasks.
- Perform hands-on diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on buses and related equipment.
- Assign and prioritize work orders based on operational needs and vehicle availability.
- Monitor and maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other safety and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with dispatch and operations to minimize vehicle downtime and support service continuity.
- Communicate effectively with other departments regarding vehicle status, repair timelines, and shop performance.
- Assist in onboarding and training new technicians and ensure ongoing skill development for the team.
- Conduct quality control checks on completed work to ensure safety and workmanship standards are met.
- Respond to road calls or breakdowns when necessary to support fleet uptime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop.
- Support the Maintenance Manager with planning, reporting, and compliance audits.
- Identify recurring maintenance issues and recommend process or equipment improvements
- Accurately document all maintenance activities in MV’s Fleet Management System
- Support team members and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with fleet maintenance software and digital work order systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance staff.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with operations, vendors, and internal teams.
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in automotive repair.
- Extensive knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient with scan tools, diagnostic software, and shop equipment (e.g., lifts, tire machines, alignment racks).
- Experience working in a dealership, fleet, or high-volume repair shop.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- ASE Certification preferred. Applicable ASE certification include H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6, H7, H8, T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8.
- Maintain a clean driving record.
- Maintain a valid DOT medical certification and remain in compliance with DOT requirements, including participation in DOT-regulated drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Offers a competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience, technical expertise, and leadership capabilities.
- OT as needed over 40 hours
