Experience working in a PACS digital imaging environment is preferred.EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:Completion of a (minimum) 2 year approved program in Radiologic Technology is required.Two to four years at a University, Community College, College, Business School, Trade or Technical School is preferred.TRAINING DESCRIPTION:Successful completion of a cross-sectional anatomy class, computed tomography theory class and clinical experience. SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:Must be well versed in CT and MRI scanning technology, cross-sectional anatomy and gross pathology to be able to identify artifacts in the images and to be able to respond to clinician's detailed requests for views depicting certain anatomy and/or pathology in the images.Must have MRI and CT cross sectional pathology knowledge for surgical mappings of tumors for therapy planning.Experience with 3-D and/ or multiplanar reformatting preferred.
Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy, physiology, gross pathology, medical terminology and radiologic patient positioning.Skills to use this combined knowledge to determine optimal 3-D views in CT and MRI for assisting with diagnosis and pre-surgical planning.
Ability to assimilate new procedures into work routine.Mental/visual ability to operate complex computer equipment.Physical ability to sit at a computer for an entire workday (with frequent breaks).The technologist should be familiar with Windows operating systems, as well as a variety of 3-D visualization and quantification software packages. LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in diagnostic radiology (RTR) is required.
Advanced ARRT license in CT or MRI is preferred.
